While the description of the siege is compelling, like most modern works dealing with the subject matter there is significant historical revisionism to portray the Church in the poorest light possible.

Good historical fiction at one of the turning point locations in history. I enjoyed the intelligent use of historical figures, organizations, locations to tell the story of The Siege of Malta (aka The Great Siege of Malta). Has now put Malta on the list of locations I want to visit. I am a fan. Will look into this author's other books.
