Vonnegut is not celebrated for his short stories. The selection of hit & miss works from his early career is probably only of interest to a devoted fan. I found this book in a strange place and it was a true friend in a dark time. The titular story is weak and dated, cancel-ready. There are a few great ones in here, I especially liked the Euphio Question amongst others.

This book had me reading til one in the morning to read it. All the stories reminded me of other books or my own experiences. Where I live, reminded me of my own small town home and neighborhood. Harrison, reminded me alot of the book The Giver. I could go on for a while, but I wont. Over all it's a good read and a perfect challenge.

Very well written short stories. My favorite was the book's namesake, but all were interesting. Proves that Vonnegut is most potent when writing science fiction.

About the author

Kurt Vonnegut’s humor, satiric voice, and incomparable imagination first captured America’s attention in The Sirens of Titan in 1959 and established him as “a true artist” (The New York Times) with Cat’s Cradle in 1963. He was, as Graham Greene declared, “one of the best living American writers.” Mr. Vonnegut passed away in April 2007.
