Oh, joy ... another tome bemoaning the awful world, created by evil incarnate men, in which poor, sainted, infinitely put-upon women are forced to endure, except this time it's set in the late 18th century. One can probably safely assume Mr. Carr is a massive, misandric, liberal cuck soaked through with societally-approved white male self-loathing. While "The Alienist" managed to keep the author's more gynocentric drivel in check; "The Angel of Darkness" fails miserably in this most desirable of outcomes. Pity.

The 2nd book of escapades of John Moore, Dr. Kreizler, and their friends. It's well written, fast paced and compelling. It's just not quite as good as The Alienist. Still, I'd recommend this book to anyone interested in a good detective story who isn't too squeamish.

When I first started this book I wasn't that I'd like it. But as I kept reading I got sucked in. It was a great sequel to the first book. Definitely a page turner that I had trouble putting down

About the author
Caleb Carr is the critically acclaimed author of The Alienist, The Angel of Darkness, The Lessons of Terror, Killing Time, The Devil Soldier, The Italian Secretary, The Legend of Broken, and Surrender, New York. He has taught military history at Bard College, and worked extensively in film, television, and the theater. His military and political writings have appeared in numerous magazines and periodicals, among them The Washington Post, The New York Times, and The Wall Street Journal. He lives in upstate New York.
