I would recommend this book to literally anyone interested. Kaplan is a fantastic writer and his brilliant tales of his time spent with the Afghan Mujihadeen was every bit as informative as entertaining, and kept me pining for the next page. 100% recommend.

Tells you the making of mujahideen in response to Soviet invasion, a brief history of Afghanistan with thorough aspects of Afghan(mujahideen) retaliation, funded by the CIA and led by ISI. An American war fought with Afghan blood.

Robert D. Kaplan is the bestselling author of sixteen books on foreign affairs and travel translated into many languages, including Asia’s Cauldron, The Revenge of Geography, Monsoon, The Coming Anarchy, and Balkan Ghosts. He is a senior fellow at the Center for a New American Security and a contributing editor at The Atlantic, where his work has appeared for three decades.
