About this ebook

“Marvelous . . . [Vonnegut] wheels out all the complaints about America and makes them seem fresh, funny, outrageous, hateful and lovable.”—The New York Times

In Breakfast of Champions, one of Kurt Vonnegut’s most beloved characters, the aging writer Kilgore Trout, finds to his horror that a Midwest car dealer is taking his fiction as truth. What follows is murderously funny satire, as Vonnegut looks at war, sex, racism, success, politics, and pollution in America and reminds us how to see the truth.

“Free-wheeling, wild and great . . . uniquely Vonnegut.”—Publishers Weekly

I just finished this book and honestly I didn't want to even finish it. The author uses the N word repeatedly, and just like most of the book, it had nothing to do with the story. Save your money! Glad he won't be writing anymore trash like this. I could've had a V8 instead of a "Breakfast for idiots." SMH

Every word meant something. No matter how small. A great picture of the American thought process in the early to late 1900's . Made me think more than any other author, which is hard to do. The absolute, best fiction novel that I have read in my life.

This book seems more and more essential every day. The key element is, as Vonnegut notes in the book, this is everything he DOESN'T believe - which gives it the range to be the perfect satire. If you miss this, it is spectacularly offensive. if you hear it, it's the most relevant novel imaginable.

About the author

Kurt Vonnegut’s humor, satiric voice, and incomparable imagination first captured America’s attention in The Sirens of Titan in 1959 and established him as “a true artist” (The New York Times) with Cat’s Cradle in 1963. He was, as Graham Greene declared, “one of the best living American writers.” Mr. Vonnegut passed away in April 2007.
