About this ebook

#1 NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • Once he was a well-liked, well-paid young partner in a thriving Mississippi law firm. Then Patrick Lanigan stole ninety million dollars from his own firm—and ran for his life.

For four years, he evaded men who were rich and powerful, and who would stop at nothing to find him. Then, inevitably, on the edge of the Brazilian jungle, they finally tracked him down.

Now Patrick is coming home. And in the Mississippi city where it all began, an extraordinary trial is about to begin. As prosecutors circle like sharks, as Patrick’s lawyer prepares his defense, as Patrick’s lover prays for his deliverance and his former partners wait for their revenge, another story is about to emerge. Because Patrick Lanigan, the most reviled white-collar criminal of his time, knows something that no one else in the world knows. He knows the truth.

Don’t miss John Grisham’s new book, THE EXCHANGE: AFTER THE FIRM!

At first, in the book The Partner I wasn't a big fan of the main character, Patrick. I was not quite sure if I was supposed to want Patrick to get away with everything but found myself on his side even though I didn't know why he had committed this theft. I did admire the way he had every angle thought out. The book was hard to put down. The constant legal twists and turns in the story kept me riveted. Mr. Grisham kept me interested with the number of players in the plot and then he planted this hidden thought of what would it be like to start life over? I thoroughly enjoyed this book and I would recommend it highly. Beware; the ending is not expected and rather disheartening.

I didn't like the ending at all. Not because I was hoping for the typically sappy romantic ending but because the actual ending made no sense to me whatsoever..Why would she go through all that trouble to help him (including getting locked up and her father getting kidnapped) and then leave when he finally was able to put it all behind him? And if she cared about him at all - which she seemed to - why leave him destitute? At least leave him a few mill out of the ~ $20 mill she took off with...Book was great up until the very end but, because the ending is so important in any novel, I can't give this more than a 3..

This book was awesome! I felt like I was in Brazil... With a bundle of cash. It made me have thoughts of moving to Brazil, & pursuing an intelligent finance brokering mistress... The way he basically erased his past to start over was cool. But the lost of the money at the end, which brought me back to reality, was not the best ending...
