About this ebook

What the Eldredge bestsellers Wild at Heart did for men, and Captivating did for women, LOVE & WAR will do for married couples everywhere. John and Stasi Eldredge have contributed the quintessential works on Christian spirituality through the experience of men and the experience of women and now they turn their focus to the incredible dynamic between those two forces.

With refreshing openness that will grab readers from the first page, the Eldredges candidly discuss their own marriage and the insights they’ve gained from the challenges they faced. Each talks independently to the reader about what they’ve learned, giving their guidance personal immediacy and a balance between the male and female perspectives that has been absent from all previous books on this topic.   They begin LOVE & WAR with an obvious but necessary acknowledgement:  Marriage is fabulously hard.  They advise that the sooner we get the shame and confusion off our backs, the sooner we'll find our way through.

LOVE & WAR shows couples how to fight for their love and happiness, calling men and women to step into the great adventure God has waiting for them together. Walking alongside John and Stasi Eldredge, every couple can discover how their individual journeys are growing into a story of meaning much greater than anything they could do or be on their own.

John & Stasi Eldredge are well-known authors to me and my friends, but their latest book entitled Love & War caught my attention for a different reason. I’ve been married now for a couple years and haven’t read hardly anything on the subject since premarital counseling. I don’t think that’s a particularly unusual place to be, but as a person who values not just where my relationship has been, but what it is becoming I felt compelled to give this book a whirl. Their early statement that “Marriage is fabulously hard” caught my attention. Based on the struggles and the joys I’ve had so far, I knew that John and Stasi understood where I was coming from. They have been married for ten times as many years as I have. Heck, they even wrote a book together, which I’m sure breeds tension like trying to put together a playground set sans directions. The book is filled with engaging stories and biblical passages to help illustrate their points about marriage, the most notable of which was the insight that my marriage has enemies, and that doesn’t mean my spouse! Also, the last chapter on “Learning to Love” is a must read for married couples or those aspiring to a married relationship. In it, they leave the reader with the best and most effective weapons to help survive the warlike elements of a marriage. The statistics are widely known. The chances are sadly against having a happy marriage, however, there are couples out there that are able to create something truly beautiful. Their story is not everybody’s story, but John and Stasi to a solid job of helping others to find their own way to love. "I received this book for free from WaterBrook Multnomah Publishing Group for this review."

I have some new favourite authors in John and Stasi Eldredge. This should be a requirement for newlyweds and after 10 yrs of marriage and/or before you file for divorce.
