Summary
NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • The end of the world was only the beginning.

In his internationally bestselling and critically acclaimed novel The Passage, Justin Cronin constructed an unforgettable world transformed by a government experiment gone horribly wrong. Now the scope widens and the intensity deepens as the epic story surges forward . . .

In the present day, as the man-made apocalypse unfolds, three strangers navigate the chaos. Lila, a doctor and an expectant mother, is so shattered by the spread of violence and infection that she continues to plan for her child’s arrival even as society dissolves around her. Kittridge, known to the world as “Last Stand in Denver,” has been forced to flee his stronghold and is now on the road, dodging the infected, armed but alone and well aware that a tank of gas will get him only so far. April is a teenager fighting to guide her little brother safely through a landscape of death and ruin. These three will learn that they have not been fully abandoned—and that in connection lies hope, even on the darkest of nights.

One hundred years in the future, Amy and the others fight on for humankind’s salvation . . . unaware that the rules have changed. The enemy has evolved, and a dark new order has arisen with a vision of the future infinitely more horrifying than man’s extinction. If the Twelve are to fall, one of those united to vanquish them will have to pay the ultimate price.

A heart-stopping thriller rendered with masterful literary skill, The Twelve is a grand and gripping tale of sacrifice and survival.

I loved this trilogy! I actually thought the second book was better! That is saying a lot because the first book was amazing!!!

An excellent series, middle book picks up where the first left off and takes you through the years of plenty as it were. Setting up the final book. How wonderful to have an Author address bubbles of time in his characters life as it changes and evolves when we have so much invested in them rather than just saying... 20 years later and making 3 average 8 hour books with tons of holes! By actually going through this time with these people it sets up the final confrontation and how everyone got to the position they did. You feel a part of their lives. Plus it does what a middle book is supposed to do... Answers questions from the first book, has a story in its own, and sets up the finale. And God, the finale is sooooooooo good!

Definitely not as good as the first book. Lots of boring unnecessary fill. Just when the story finally get good, it's done.

When the first book ended I was wanting more. Not knowing if there was a second book I was very pleased to find out there is. Great series, if I had to pick one negative . . sometimes Cronin goes into too much detail. Hey it's an audio book so who cares. Excellent story, many times that I can't stop listening.

A little bit slower than the first book for my taste but still interesting.
