I am raising a teen grandson with bipolar and brittle diabetes. He is currently in a residential treatment center due to self harm and anger outbursts. Reading this book was like reading about my own emotional roller coaster. Our situation isn't as intense, but as a single parent, the emotions run as deep or nearly so. You feel so alone in your angst when people don't get it. Your heart breaks for the normalcy that slips away. But there is hope. Thank you for telling a story that speaks for many of us!

This book was one of the most amazing books I've ever had the pleasure to read. And I have read thousands upon thousands of books. Actually this is the first review I've ever written. I appreciate how open and honest he is regarding his daughters mental illness. If it goes just one step towards erasing the stigma of mental illness then it is more than worth it.

If you have anyone in your family with a mental illness then you should read this book. The stuggles that this family face every day are sad yet inspiring. The father who wrote the book seems a little self senterd but other then that this is a really good and easy read.
