About the Author

Originally from Long Island, New York, Gaydell M. Collier lived most of her life in Sundance, Wyoming, where she and her husband operated the Backpocket Ranch. With Eleanor Prince, Ms. Collier wrote Basic Horsemanship: English and Western; Basic Training for Horses: English and Western; and Basic Horse Care. She also produced, with coeditors Nancy Curtis and Linda Hasselstrom, Leaning into the Wind: Women Write from the Heart of the West in 1997; Crazy Woman Creek: Women Rewrite the American West in 2004; and Woven on the Wind: Women Write about Friendship in the Sagebrush West. In 2004, Ms. Collier won Wyoming Governor’s Arts Award for Literature.

Eleanor F. Prince grew up in New Hampshire and now lives on a ranch in Buford, Wyoming, where she raises and trains Arabian horses and teaches equitation at the University of Wyoming. With Gaydell Collier, Ms. Prince published three books on horse training and riding: Basic Horsemanship: English and Western; Basic Training for Horses: English and Western; and Basic Horse Care.
