I enjoyed the story, although I found the attitudes towards race off-putting. The author may have included this as social commentary or for some other reason but I didn't enjoy reading it.

About the author

Robert Lewis Taylor was a writer for The New Yorker for over twenty years. His novel, The Travels of Jamie McPheeters, won the Pulitzer Prize in 1959. His other works include the biography W.C. Fields: His Follies and Fortunes and the novel Adrift in a Boneyard, among others.
