Character driven story at its finest
This is not a book filled with magic Mayham and adventure although it has all of those features. it is also not a book about homosexuals although that does take a small part in the story and only the homophobes make a large deal out of it. This is a story that is driven by characters that are rich, believable and despite the races very very human. It also has a backstory in a land filled with depth, intrigue and a unique personality. This entire series isn’t an action adventure movie but a unique personal look from the eyes of someone caught up in the extraordinary.
Homosexual exploration
I’m not a big fan of extensive “adult” scenes let alone main plot lines in my fantasy/sci-fi books. A sprinkle is fine, but it’s just not my cup of tea. Why the reviews don’t mention that homosexuality (surprise!) is a main plot line is beyond me.
Nothing happens very fast.
