An Epic Fantasy Ends
The third installment of the second trilogy sums up all six books nicely. Epic Fantasy.
Second Chronicles of TC - Good story, not so good writing
Back in the eighties I read the first chronicles, and then read halfway through the second chronicles. Now, after succeeding in finishing the series I think I see why I foundered the first time. The writing is... ungainly. I think that’s the best way to put it. When “lugubrious” is the easiest word to understand, that says a lot. I found myself having to look up some of the words SRD used on almost every page. I have a good word for it. Ludicrous.
Also the “purple prose” employed made me, often, scan through pages at a time to just get on with it man! Ugh.
And yet, I really enjoyed the story. I became invested, and slogged through it. It was worth the effort, but honestly I think I deserve a merit badge or something.
