A Simple Autumn: A Seasons of Lancaster Novel Audible Audiobook – Unabridged

4.7 4.7 out of 5 stars 137 ratings

For fans of Cindy Woodsmall and Beverly Lewis, Rosalind Lauer’s Seasons of Lancaster novel A Simple Autumn is a wonderful Amish story about two brothers navigating through the troubled waters of love.

A LOVE THAT REMAINS HIDDEN,

A FORK IN A THORNY ROAD

Jonah King has no desire to leave his close-knit community. All his hopes and dreams lie in Lancaster County, and many of them revolve around his longtime love for Annie Stoltzfus. For years he’s been trying to get her to see what burns inside his heart, yet he remains all but invisible to her. Annie’s beautiful eyes reflect only her affection for Jonah’s older brother - and her sadness when he chooses another. Jonah knows that he must speak up, but when he’s around Annie his calm, capable demeanor flees, leaving him tongue-twisted and awkward.

Gabe King has been courting schoolteacher Emma Lapp for months, but she insists on keeping their relationship secret. Emma embraces her duty to set a good example for her pupils, but Gabe is in his rumspringa and still wild at heart, riding motorbikes and unwilling to cut his ties to the outside world. Much to Emma’s deep sorrow, it appears that she and Gabe are choosing different paths.

As swirling leaves of orange and gold dance across the countryside, two brothers must find the courage and faith to reconcile their heritage and their hearts.

A beautiful story that explores the clarity of true love, A Simple Autumn is a bounty for heart and soul.

This series is the first time I've read any of her books. She's great. Can't wait to read more of her books.

Very Interesting characters! Jonah, a quiet, steadfast hardworking young Amish man and has his heart set on Annie. Annie seems shallow to me at first. Having wasted so many years hoping Adam would have returned to the community and fallen in love with her. But as we get to know Annie we see she is not that way. She is loyal, devoted to her family and desires to serve others. It is a beautiful story of love and family commitment. Living for something beyond yourself. The main characters are intertwined with other story lines which are equally as interesting and bring out other wonderful qualities of Annie in particular. I would highly recommend this book. It is a very good read.

This was the 3rd in a series and was exciting to see how this would evolve and end. I enjoyed the first 2 and this was just as wonderful. I know the mother of the author so it makes it a little more delightful. I've also read several of her books under her other pen name. Since I've never read anything about the amish before, it was interesting to learn of their lifestyle and rules.

A Simple Autumn is the third novel of three. This is a love story about Johah King and Anne Stoltzfus and how they got together.
This author has quite a gift of putting her novels together. She makes you feel as if you are part of the story. I just loved all three of these novels and would highly recommend anyone to read these stories. I am anxiously waiting for her next novel.

The third book in this series was a bit long. Probably because I couldn't put it down and was anxious to see how it ended! Rosalind Lauer is by far my favorite author of Amish books.

After considering "A Simple Winter" a personal favorite I was eager to continue the adventures of the King family. "A Simple Spring" was youthful and fluffy, but it was these more adult relationships of this installment I best preferred.

The story and writing are about as sweet and apt as I've come to expect from Ms. Lauer so fans should not be disappointed. She tackles the romances of brothers Jonah and Gabe while giving tidbits on the ways of the rest of the family. Jonah works on capturing the notice of his long-adored Annie while Gabe wrestles with growing up and being there for Emma. Simple story lines but they manage to contain a goodly amount of thoughtfulness.

This visit to Lancaster is a worthwhile one. Good writing, good storytelling, and the sweetness one expects.

I enjoyed this third part of the series. I am so pleased that the story seemed to continue long enough to complete the story of Jonah with the details needed to help a reader understand all the different events of the families in this book. Thank you for a great story.
