About this audiobook

The fifth novel in Isaac Asimov’s classic science-fiction masterpiece, the Foundation series

THE EPIC SAGA THAT INSPIRED THE APPLE TV+ SERIES FOUNDATION

Golan Trevize, former Councilman of the First Foundation, has chosen the future, and it is Gaia. A superorganism, Gaia is a holistic planet with a common consciousness so intensely united that every dewdrop, every pebble, every being, can speak for all—and feel for all. It is a realm in which privacy is not only undesirable, it is incomprehensible.

But is it the right choice for the destiny of mankind? While Trevize feels it is, that is not enough. He must know.

Trevize believes the answer lies at the site of humanity’s roots: fabled Earth . . . if it still exists. For no one is sure where the planet of Gaia’s first settlers is to be found in the immense wilderness of the Galaxy. Nor can anyone explain why no record of Earth has been preserved, no mention of it made anywhere in Gaia’s vast world-memory. It is an enigma Trevize is determined to resolve, and a quest he is determined to undertake, at any cost.

I'm obsessed with this series, and have downloaded and listened to the last 4 books in the span of a month. Was expecting this last audio book to be just as good but honestly this would of been much better under a Scott Brick narration (who narrated the series until now). McKeever doesn't do this reading justice and really ruins the experience with his monotone unexpressive, slow paced reading. He reads this masterpiece very mechanically and makes it more of task to endure then an adventure to experience. I only feel obligated to push through because I paid for the book and have made it this far in the series...Your better off just downloading the ebook and saving yourself a few bucks. Especially if you've already become accustomed to Scott Bricks dynamic performances in the earlier books until now.

You will notice the absence of Scott Brick if you listened to the entire series to get here. The narrator for this one is not very dynamic. I sped this one up to 1.5x speed which made me sad.

Great end to an epic story. That reading, though... Very monotone narration, and the poor guy can only do 2.5 distinct voices. Good luck following along during the parts where 3 or 4 characters are having a conversation!
