Unabridged Audiobook
Very good read. It’s a great perspective on His early years. Narrator was excellent
Having read River of Doubt and Destiny of the Republic, I knew Candice Millard wouldn't disappoint with this book. Finding out so much about the man who would become Winston Churchill is fascinating. The story is told beautifully and with terrific detail. Simon Vance enhances the experience with his narration.
I absolutely loved this book and the narration!! The author has spent years in painstaking research to give us the details that make this account a one of a kind work. One feels as if one were actually with Churchill at the moments in time portrayed. The insights into the character of the young Churchill are fascinating, and the storyline is displayed with the color and tension that make one not want to stop. As the work closes, it is eerie how much the echoes of this work are heard in our current days. Truly a timely and wonderful book.
This story and narration is riveting!! I highly recommend this CD. So much is revealed about the character of young Winston Churchill. The book reads like a rollicking, Raiders of the Lost Ark--a fun adventure--with a glimpse into the history of the Boer War in South Africa as well.
