This is a fast read! Well written, with more than enough spice added to the drama.

It’s a yes and no.
I like the story. And in this book it gets back to the roots of the fey. So that’s good. I mean you don’t really read these books for the story. Let’s face it, we are all here for one thing. It’s the idea of getting lost in the arms of a fey lover.
However, I truly hate how the Author seems to forget what happened in the last book. The fact that they received marks of power in the last and how powerful that moment was! I was Hoping that would come up again, but in this one it was a “oh yeah, I forgot that happened, let’s question it again when someone new gets a mark. “
And holy mistletoe… the fact that she questions everything, and I mean everything drives me insane. I got to the point of just skipping over Merry’s confused look and asking why and jumping right to explaining it. She grew up in the courts. He father taught her about the kingdoms ect. (I’m still confused on how she’s part mortal on whose side?! Because her father was next in line for the throne and the brother of the queen, immortal and mother part of the shining court clearly immortal sooooooo?????)
But I digress, “why do questions bother the reader?” If this aspect was removed form these books the 450 pages should drop to 250. I swear it most solemnly to he walks behind the rows.
Please, just jump to explaining. Like to some noob. Merry is in line for the throne. She shouldn’t be this clueless.

Okay I love Laurell K Hamilton. She is one of my top 5 authors. She is amazing. That being said, did the first 700 something pages need to be about her have sex with 2 people? I think one chapter is enough, even two is acceptable, but almost half the book? I skipped a couple chapters just because I got bored with it. I love this series and I hope the next book is a little better.
