I remember trying to read about Alianne in "Trickster's Choice" but it was to difficult for me to understand. With Beka Cooper I could relate to the everyday like Court Days and murder mysteries. This book had me guessing who was the Shadow Snake all the way through the book. I was completely entangled in Beka's World. I felt A special connection. i liked the journal format I thought it was very interesting. I also liked the fact that she was assigned to two dogs who weren't so thrilled about babysitting a puppy but really became good friends at the end. I also really felt for Beka and almost started crying when her friend and fellow puppy Verene was murdered as well a Rollo. Beka has a fascinating life that I think with capture everyone....

Beka is an every day girl who never wanted to be a hero, only wanted to help others who have been in horrible situations like she has experienced. She has anxiety and is socially awkward but can put her uniform on and get the job done. Inspirational strong female protagonists, but men aren't shown as inferior, simply different strengths.
