'Salem's Lot (Movie Tie-in)

The only reason I got this book was to try and experience Father Callahan's character for the Dark Tower series. My advice to anyone looking to deepen their DT experience is to just go read the Wikipedia entry on him. It is more than enough to get a good grasp on him. The book was probably better when it came out without the years of media competition since its release. The ideas of what vampires are doing to survive in this book just would not work today, even in the blow through towns of today. This book could best be described as a lite common sense approach to how vampires would have to integrate into society to continue supporting their lifestyles and how hopeless it can become to fight an exponential growth factor. No attempt is made to disguise who the bad guys are. It is immediately apparent when the characters are introduced. My advice? Skip it. It is stuck in time and will remain so.

Great writing as always. I felt like I was promised it would be scarier than it was. Maybe vampires just arent that scary to me. Lost me a bit in the climax but came back with a solid ending. It's a good read.

A more perfect advertisement for the necessity of the Camarilla hasn't existed since old Vlad dominated that Irishman. Gospel or propaganda, it's up to the listening Kindred. I liked it enough, despite my pity for those shovelheads of The Lot. Final Death to that Sabbat a-hole, Barlow, though.
