About this ebook

NATIONAL BESTSELLER

The Social Network, the much anticipated movie…adapted from Ben Mezrich’s book The Accidental Billionaires.” —The New York Times

Best friends Eduardo Saverin and Mark Zuckerberg had spent many lonely nights looking for a way to stand out among Harvard University’s elite, competitive, and accomplished  student body. Then, in 2003, Zuckerberg hacked into Harvard’s computers, crashed the campus network, almost got himself expelled, and was inspired to create Facebook, the social networking site that has since revolutionized communication around the world.

With Saverin’s funding their tiny start-up went from dorm room to Silicon Valley. But conflicting ideas about Facebook’s future transformed the friends into enemies. Soon, the undergraduate exuberance that marked their collaboration turned into out-and-out warfare as it fell prey to the adult world of venture capitalists, big money, and lawyers.

While I did enjoy the story, there is little to no insight into Mr. Zuckerburg. The story is an engaging one, and centers on the "betrayals" of key players in the founding of Facebook. However, the author seems to think that all men (especially college aged ones) are only motivated by their penis. He cannot see why certain choices were made, nor can he understand motivations beyond sex and money. This is the books main failing. Still it is a worthy and fast read for those interested in the founding of Facebook

Short enough to keep my interest. I could not automatically guess the conclusion or the ongoing story. Keeps mostly focused on the main character (Mark Zuckerberg) and his start up relationships in the business world. Has a common theme along with another story I recently read " Goggled" that is the power of being focused and with a goal. If you’re interested in business stories with a little added scandal, sex and nightlife this is an interesting biography of characters involved with the making of Face book.

A "simple" story (in the telling that is - not in the living). Easy to read but disappointlingly it wasn't overly involved. I haven't seen the movie but suggest this is one case where it would be fine to view it in lieu of the book.
