Fantastic read. Provides exhaustive context on the origins of the Jeannette Expedition and the key individuals who organized and conducted it, and the adventure itself is told in a very compelling manner. Only minor shortcoming is that the conclusion is rather abrupt (at least compared to the opening); aside from a brief mention of Nansen and lives of the surviving participants, there isn't much discussion on the aftermath and legacy of the expedition.

Loved it. Could not put it down. Fascinating first hand account style of writing that made you keenly aware of the monumental tribulations of this group of explorers. An expose of man's interminable survival extinct.
