About this ebook

In this explosive novel from bestselling author Jen McLaughlin, a good girl falls for the ultimate bad boy: her stepbrother. Perfect for fans of Sabrina Paige, Caitlin Daire, and Krista Lakes, Bad Romance proves that passion can be so wrong it’s right.

Seven years in the army will change a guy. But after a shoulder wound ends his career as a sniper, Jackson Worthington finds himself back home, fighting a battle that’s all too familiar: keeping his hands off Lily Hastings. She’s still her rich daddy’s little angel, innocent, impossibly lovely, as squeaky-clean as Jackson is dirty. And she’s still his stepsister—forbidden but not forgotten, not after the soul-melting kiss that got him kicked out of the house at eighteen. He couldn’t resist her then. How the hell can he resist her now?

Lily is about to marry a man she doesn’t love, and commit to a high-stress job she hates, all to please the father who controls every waking moment of her life. On top of everything, her teenage crush is back, with a sleek, chiseled body and a trace of the rebellious boy whose lips sealed her fate. Jackson’s timing couldn’t be worse . . . or better. Because Lily’s all grown up, too. She’s aching for another taste. And for the first time, she’s ready to be a bad girl.

Jackson never got along with his new step-father. He was too controlling and expected him to fall into line with what he wanted and not what Jackson wanted. Finally he had enough. He decides it is time to leave. However, he is going to really miss Lilly, his step-sister. She is the only one who cares about him. His mother made it well known she didn’t want anything to do with him. However before he leaves, he and Lilly acted on their attraction on each other. They are caught kissing by their parents. Of course that did not go over well. They clearly make it known he is not good enough for her. Seven years later, after being injured, he returns home. He has no intention of letting his family know he is back in town. However he accidently runs into Lilly. After seeing the dive he lives in, Lilly offers him the chance to stay at her place. Because Jackson still has feelings for Lilly he is not sure this is the most brilliant idea. After all he should not have feelings for his “sister”. When Jackson finds out Lilly is expected to marry the man her father picks for her and that it is a business deal, he is furious. Furious that Lilly does not stand up to her father. At the end, Lilly has to decide between her father and Jackson. This becomes freeing for her. This was a solid story with good character development. Lilly is whishy washy at times. The only complaint I have, is we know they are step-sister/brother but it is told over and over again. I also think it would be better to have an epilogue. I like how some authors can wrap up the storyline and let us see into the future. I think I would have been more inclined to give it a “4” if . Overall, solid story and I will continue to read books by this author.

This one had all the components of a great story but it just fell a bit short. It just didn't have the angst of a good "stepbrother" story. While teenagers, Jackson and Lily fight their attraction. Jackson knows Lily has a crush on him but he won't cross that line, until one night after another bad fight with his stepfather. One kiss is all they had before being discovered by Lily's father and immediately throws Jackson out of the house. Seven years later, after suffering an injury while fighting as a marine, Jackson is back. Lily is still Daddy's little girl and ready to marry a man she doesn't love to make him happy. Can she really avoid the temptation of Jackson?? Really not a bad story, just needed something to really spice it up.
