About this ebook

USA TODAY BESTSELLER • Sparks fly between a misunderstood New York socialite and a cynical divorce lawyer in this lively standalone rom-com from the author of Blurred Lines and Love Story.

Pampered heiress Georgianna Watkins has a party-girl image to maintain, but all the shopping and clubbing is starting to feel a little bit hollow—and a whole lot lonely. Though Georgie would never admit it, the highlights of her week are the mornings when she comes home at the same time as her uptight, workaholic neighbor is leaving to hit the gym and put in a long day at the office. Teasing him is the most fun Georgie’s had in years—and the fuel for all her naughtiest daydreams.

Celebrity divorce attorney Andrew Mulroney doesn’t have much time for women, especially spoiled tabloid princesses who spend more time on Page Six than at an actual job. Although Georgie’s drop-dead gorgeous, she’s also everything Andrew resents: the type of girl who inherited her penthouse instead of earning it. But after Andrew caps one of their predawn sparring sessions with a surprise kiss—a kiss that’s caught on camera—all of Manhattan is gossiping about whether they’re a real couple. And nobody’s more surprised than Andrew to find that the answer just might be yes.

Party girl, Georgianna "Georgie" Watkins has a wonderful life. She is a pampered heiress, especially since her grandma left her a nice trust fund, and has never had to work a day in her life. She is also an only child with two very well off parents. The most Georgie has to ever worry about is what to buy when she goes shopping or which fundraiser she should be helping out at. While this may sound like a great, her dating life is anything but. It's always the same type of rich, cocky guys which completely bore Georgie. Now, the guy who lives in 79B in her apartment building whom she sees every morning at 5:00 am when she is just getting in from a night of partying does pique her interest. Andrew Mulroney is a very successful divorce attorney and likes his routine life. Out the door every day at 5:00 am to work out at the gym, then off to the office where he spends most of his time, then back home to start the routine all over. What he doesn't like is the bubbly Georgie, or Georgianna as he prefers to call her....or does he? While these two may be polar opposites, they are just drawn to each other. Georgie purposely comes home every morning just before 5:00 am with a dozen donuts for the doormen, just waiting for Andrew to show up. Andrew secretly enjoys sparring with Georgie every morning, although he'd never admit it. The conversations between these two are perfect, laugh out loud awesomeness! Then finally one day the sparring turns to an earth shattering kiss...which just happens to get photographed by the paparazzi and their world explodes! I really loved these characters. They were both so fun and entertaining. I really enjoyed how they balanced each other out so well. While Georgie is outgoing and friendly, Andrew is quiet and reserved. I just adored this story line and couldn't put this book down...it was THAT fun! So if you are looking for two great characters and a wonderful, laugh out loud, swooning story....I highly recommend giving this book a try!

***4 ‘Perfectly Ridiculous’ Stars*** After my tepid feelings towards Love Story I was a bit hesitant to dive into Walk of Shame, something I hate to admit but truth is truth. But my wonky Libra nature urged me to give it a go because it IS LL after all, and one off’s happen, so I did and I devoured this book. It was a fun, smexy rom com that had a good dose of angst that was tempered by heart and sweetness. Georgie was raised with a silver spoon in her mouth and to the world at large is a party girl celebutante, but that’s only the tip of the iceberg. I honestly loved Georgie. She was comfortable in her own skin and owned her lifestyle. She may be a party girl, but that isn’t all she is. She has a huge heart and sees people for who they are, not their status. She’s witty, kind and compassionate even when she’s attempting to be sneaky. Andrew is a high powered divorce attorney who likes his world to be a nicely regimented to the point where his whole world can go sideways should one little thing not fall in line. Oh Logan. I didn’t know what to think about him at first, but as things progress and we find out more about his past I did end up liking him more and more. He’s got a good heart, is smexy as hell, but suffers from ‘foot in mouth’ disease...a lot. Their opposites attract rollercoaster of a relationship was all kinds of fun and frustrating in equal measure, but I loved how they got under each others skins and have them tripping over themselves to figure out what was going on between them. I would have liked a little more of Andrew, and I know that’s vague, but there is so much to him that I feel we only got the tip of the iceberg (visualize that book vs movie meme with said iceberg). Did it change how I felt at the end? No, it didn’t affect my rating, but had we gotten more it would have definitely bumped it up. Regardless of that, I really enjoyed Andy and Georgie together. They’re bantering was witty and I loved them when they started to open up and relax with each other. The relationship bomb was a big one, but I liked how it all played out and how they got back together made me all kinds of twitterpated. The writing flowed well and the pacing of the story was good. I thought the movie references were well used throughout the book, especially since one of my favorite movies was also one of Georgie’s. The use of 1st person POV and 3rd person POV was well done. Overall this was a fun read filled with heart and a good dose of heat and it is a true standalone so you can dive on in without having read the previous books in the series. ~ Copy provided by the publisher via NetGalley ~

April 11, 2017 – Started Reading Review Walk of Shame was the first Lauren Layne book that I have read and I was not disappointed! It was a great read that was just enough of a romantic/funny/sexy story that I had to go back and TBR all of Lauren’s other books! This book was a great story about two people from two totally different worlds annoying the hell out of each other. Until it becomes so much more. Georgie is a socialite who spends all of her time working on charity events, going out with friends every night, brunching with the parents every weekend, hell, she’s one busy girl!! Most importantly, she always made sure to be in the lobby of her apartment building at 5:00 a.m. SHARP so she can annoy the very rigid lawyer, Andrew, who refers to her as ridiculous every time he speaks with her. Andrew is the best divorce lawyer that money can buy. However, he is very set in his routine, hardly ever smiles or socializes and annoys Georgie just as much as she annoys him. Little does Georgie know that Andrew enjoys their little encounters just as much as she does. This story had me from the first chapter! Honestly, I was sucked in when Andrew was described as the love child of Thor and Captain America! That’s a story I can get behind!! 😊 I absolutely love the banter between Georgie and Andrew. Even though Andrew is just so proper, he can really hold his own against Georgie’s quick wit and you can just feel the chemistry and wonder how they just don’t act on their attraction to each other!! It was nice to read a story that the main characters don’t jump each other’s bones within two chapters. I really enjoyed the game these two played, getting almost to the end before they finally give into their desires. AND IT IS AMAZING! Andrew is like Clark Kent…all business but when that suit comes off, HOT DAMN!! Walk of Shame will be one of those books I go back to over and over because it is “perfectly ridiculous”!!

Lauren currently lives in Chicago with her husband and their spoiled Pomeranian.
