This is not a post-Apocalypse story. It isn't a story that takes you through the Apocalypse as it unfolds, and shows you both the best and worst that humanity has to offer. It has it all - a global pandemic, a mysterious zombie-like plague (but NOT zombies), radicalized white supremacists, a presidential election, romance, and a diverse cast of character on all fronts. There are multiple tales of redemption - and I love a story where people realize they have done wrong and stop at nothing to make it right.

Just a heads up - If you are a conservative at all, this book isnt really for you. I started reading, and in the first 20 minutes the topics of racist microaggressions, Republican denial of "science", and fly over state ignorance are covered. He immediately introduces an eeeeeeeeeevil (super scary! if you are 3) Trump like character and it seemed to be evolving in how non liberals are all rrrrracists(!) that must be stopped at all cost, lest the stumbly apocalypse hits and they all majically became as racist as Democrats circa 1930 in the south. The only science fiction here is this guy's perception of reality. I want my money back.

Some of the dialogue was a little trite, but overall it was a very good book! I read it while quarantined due to the Covid-19 pandemic and it is fascinating how correct portions of this book were in light of what's going on now.
