Dragonfly in Amber: A Novel

I love the Outlander adaptation so was was advised to read the books. While the story is amazing, I would say that it took time to get anywhere. For instance this to 2.5 years for me to finish as I keep having to put it down out of sheer boredom. While the details are amazing, this book tend to be excessively wordy. What could be explained in one paragraph sometimes took 2-3 pages. I would recommend this book for readers who love detail but it is easy to get lost in this book due to them.

Would have given 5 stars. Love these books and thought it would be great to have them on my devices, than to carry the physical books. But, I am very upset that this book is missing some very important pages. Seems to be the ones at the end of some chapters. I did not pay to read half downloaded/typed up books. I really hope this can be fixed. I enjoy these books very deeply.

A great story, but far too wordy for far too long. I feel like there was so much fluff in the middle that I had to make myself keep reading to get to the interesting parts. I usually read a few hundred pages a day, but I couldn't get myself to read even a hundred pages, as I would get bored quickly. The story starts off strong, then suddenly drops off and doesn't really pick back up until almost 800 pages, close to the end. I'm a fast, strong reader but this was just too boring and overly detailed for most of it. I do love the series, but seeing as the next book is another 900 page story with reviews calling it "too wordy" I think I'll just watch the show from here on out. If you enjoy endless politics and war strategy, you may find it more interesting than I do.
