About this ebook

Workaholic attorney Samantha Sweeting has just done the unthinkable. She’s made a mistake so huge, it’ll wreck any chance of a partnership.

Going into utter meltdown, she walks out of her London office, gets on a train, and ends up in the middle of nowhere. Asking for directions at a big, beautiful house, she’s mistaken for an interviewee and finds herself being offered a job as housekeeper. Her employers have no idea they’ve hired a lawyer–and Samantha has no idea how to work the oven. She can’t sew on a button, bake a potato, or get the #@%# ironing board to open. How she takes a deep breath and begins to cope–and finds love–is a story as delicious as the bread she learns to bake.

But will her old life ever catch up with her? And if it does…will she want it back?

The plot is predictable, the main plotline of a lawyer taking a job as a maid on a whim is...shall we say, a bit of a stretch, but I liked this book. It was the first Sophie Kinsella I ever read, and since then, I've read a few more and enjoyed them, Her books are funny, quick and most importantly, fluffy. Good for an afternoon in the sun, not for spirit enrichment and fulfillment. I will read more of her books, though I am usually a murder mystery, sci fi, fantasy kind of gal. They are that good and funny.

Well, this book was one of the three choices for our February book club book, and do I ever wish that we had chosen this one over _The Godmother_! Not that this was by any means a "serious" novel, no, it was a typical British Chick Lit sort of book - a little silly, and a lot of fun to read! There were definitely some laugh-out-loud parts to this, that made me wish that there was a movie-version to see with friends. The plot was at times a bit stressful, but overall it was just a lot of fun to read and made for a satisfying way to spend my evening.

It was too absurd to even get through. I really loved "Confessions of a Shopaholic," but I think this one was a flop. It was just stupid. Got to Chapter 9 and couldn't take it anymore. Not an intelligent read.
