I loved Red Dragon and Silence of the Lambs, couldn't put them down until I finished. Hannibal has really disappointed me, it doesn't feel the same, I got bored so quickly and had to force myself to continue reading. There's no suspense or thrill that I found in the first two books. It finally became too much and I moved on without finishing. I've never started a book and not finished it until Hannibal. I wanted to like this book and finish the series, disappointed that I couldn't.

Hannibal by Thomas Harris OMG, The movie made me shiver and shake with shock....However the book!!! Whew! This is probably the scariest book I’ve ever encountered. It is a good thing It is an eBook otherwise I would not have been able to read it because my hands were shaking too much. This is a must read for the thrill-seeking, serial-killing, sadist-murdering, cannibal-fan reader. I am sick enough to be all three-on paper only. I certainly do not want to meet Hannibal in person. If he ever invites you to dinner find out what is on the menu first.

Lacks the expertly balanced pace of the previous books and instead winds and lingers without the expected precision and flare. The voice is inconsistent and I didn't recognise the characters I got to know before. Less clever, more banal, and it also assumes the reader needs explanations and reminders constantly.
About the author
A native of Mississippi, Thomas Harris began his writing career covering crime in the United States and Mexico, and was a reporter and editor for the Associated Press in New York City. His first novel, Black Sunday, was published in 1975, followed by Red Dragon in 1981, and The Silence of the Lambs in 1988.
