Absolutely loved this book. I learned so much about the struggle of the Jews not just in the 1930s and 1940s but from previous centuries. I really had no concept of the formation of Israel and enjoyed the fictional characters woven together to tell the stories of Jewish plight. I am racially Jewish and have a much better appreciation for my heritage now.
