It is a fast-paced and intense story and deals with research by amoral and immoral men, run amok. Unfortunately Nazi Germany showed us such depravity is not just possible but accepted in the name of science. it is a great premise that Koontz masterfully fleshes out in later novels. However this story felt just a bit frantic and a bit incomplete. Still recommended because I will read anything this author writes.

dean koontz is definitely one of the head masters of horror and writing in general. i've read many of his books and was never disappointed until i read "the door to december". this book did not exhibit any of koontz's remkarkable writing talents. its as if some ordinary person thats never wrote a book in their life took over his mind. and to make it worse it was one of those thick, full of pages books but sadly the payoff was just disappointment. don't waste your time with this one believe me.

This is the only book I have read by the author, and it was years ago. The story was original, terrifying, and fantastic. Personally, I would list this title under the horror genre, it certainly has the proper elements. This book is not for the squeamish, but highly recommended for those of you who enjoy a little gore. For the horror enthusiasts as well as the sci-fi crowd looking for something unique, this is the book for you!
