Publisher Description
A worthy pupil . . . A dangerous quest
To the forest on the shore of the Kingdom of the Isles, the orphan Pug came to study with the master magician Kulgan. But though his courage won him a place at court and the heart of a lovely Princess, he was ill at ease with the normal ways of wizardry.
Yet Pug's strange sort of magic would one day change forever the fates of two worlds. For dark beings from another world had opened a rift in the fabric of spacetime to being again the age-old battle between the forces of Order and Chaos.

Pronunciation and Voices Lacking
I really wanted to give this five stars, but there are issues with the narration. The characters are hard to tell apart — they all sound like the same person (including the “narrator voice”) with slightly different degrees of roughness to the voice, and an occasional stab at a slight accent that goes away pretty quickly. If I didn’t know the book very well already I would have a hard time following the conversations. On more than one occasion the tone and inflection of both character voices and narration sound as though the narrator is reading for the first time, rather than considering the context of the words coming out of his mouth, or is unaware of the rest of the sentence until he gets to it. Lastly, the pronunciation of certain words just catch my ear like a fishhook. “el-VAN-der,” “a-MOS Trask,” etc. All taken together, the issues (while minor by themselves) detract from the performance, though the material helps make up for it.
Sad narrator
I live the book but, based on the preview, I couldn’t stand listening to this version — sad
Just great!!!
Great pacing with a great adventure story. Loved it.
