They are pretty simple reads. I feel the stories end just when the storyline is starting to develop. I've been reading a chapter a night with my 4y/o son and he loves the series. Because of his love for the books, he started to show an interest in reading and has provided us with many nights of easy bedtime. Minus one star for the storylines, 4 stars and my money for what they have done for us.
