After not loving Let's Talk About Sext, the first book in this series, I wanted to give this one a try and see if that was a one-off or not. Unfortunately, it seems like that's not the case. I loved Saam. He's the best part of this book, just like Brody was in book one. But just as in the first book in this series, the heroine just didn't work for me. Her storyline didn't make much sense to me. I had such a hard time getting into this book and then the ending was so abrupt that I felt like I should have given up earlier like I wanted to. Saam completely saved this book and Phebe, the heroine from book one, was so much more likable in this book than her own. While I'm sure some will love this book, I'm thinking this is the end of the road with this author for me.

This is the second book by Evie Claire that I've read, and I think it's safe to say that she clearly isn't the author for me. Part of my problem with I Wanna Sext You Up is that I felt like it didn't really know what it wanted to be. The cover and blurb made me expect a lighthearted, possibly fluffy bit of fun, but the story veers in another more serious direction. I have no problem with either, but I felt misled with this one. Unfortunately, neither direction really worked for me. I had a problem with the characters in the first book of this series, and that continued here. They're all a little one-dimensional and I can't say that I particularly liked either Lorie or Saam. Awkward geek can be adorable, but Saam is just over the top and comes off as mostly rude. And Lorie was so consumed with climbing the ladder that it's the only thing I really knew about her for the first several chapters. In the end, there really wasn't much about this one that did work for me, and it was only my sheer determination, or maybe obsession, about finishing a book that kept me going. Considering that I'm now 2 for 2 with this series, I think I'll just call it and say enough is enough, time to move on.

When I read the title of this book, I thought that it would be full of sexy, flirty texts between two people as they built a relationship. There were a few sexy texts plus some other texts that would have been better if instead of spelling out the emoji's the actual emoji's had been used. Lorie is so stuck in her head and so worried about what everyone else thinks and pleasing everyone but herself, that she almost loses out on the most important thing in her life. Saam is so introverted and professional and wrapped up in his career that at first you wonder how any of his patients could like him, yet over time you come to see the "true him" and find he is very likable. This book was a little hard to get thru and I wish it had related a little more to its title, but it was still a good book. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
