About this ebook

NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • ECPA BESTSELLER • “When it comes to the intersection of race, privilege, justice, and the church, Tasha is without question my best teacher. Be the Bridge is THE tool I wish to put in every set of hands.”—Jen Hatmaker

WINNER OF THE CHRISTIAN BOOK AWARD® • Winner of the Christianity Today Book Award • A leading advocate for racial reconciliation calls Christians to move toward deeper understanding in the midst of a divisive culture.

In an era where we seem to be increasingly divided along racial lines, many are hesitant to step into the gap, fearful of saying or doing the wrong thing. At times the silence, particularly within the church, seems deafening.

But change begins with an honest conversation among a group of Christians willing to give a voice to unspoken hurts, hidden fears, and mounting tensions. These ongoing dialogues have formed the foundation of a global movement called Be the Bridge—a nonprofit organization whose goal is to equip the church to have a distinctive and transformative response to racism and racial division.

In this perspective-shifting book, founder Latasha Morrison shows how you can participate in this incredible work and replicate it in your own community. With conviction and grace, she examines the historical complexities of racism. She expertly applies biblical principles, such as lamentation, confession, and forgiveness, to lay the framework for restoration.

Along with prayers, discussion questions, and other resources to enhance group engagement, Be the Bridge presents a compelling vision of what it means for every follower of Jesus to become a bridge builder—committed to pursuing justice and racial unity in light of the gospel.

I Love the way that "unspeakable topics" are openly and honestly discussed. The author never forgets what the focus is. The focus is to be God's Spiritual Warrior, regardless of differences.

If you are grieved by recent current events and you’re asking, “What can I do?” then get this book. If you aren’t convinced that institutional racism exists, then start with another book, such as ‘The Myth of Equality.’ ‘Be the Bridge’ was designed to be read with others. Each chapter ends with questions for deep reflection and discussion, along with prayers best read out loud. The collectiveness of racism is hard to process, but by leaning into the discomfort and with others, the shared experience will give you a common vocabulary moving forward. Latasha Morrison is an excellent guide and she’s created an exceptional tool for us to do the hard work of listening, learning and lamenting together.

Every Jesus follower, that wants a bigger picture of who Jesus is and doesn't know where to start to break the silence in the church about racial divide, needs to read this book. Latasha Morrison eloquently weaves her own experiences, historical events and scripture in a way that simultaneously made me want to read it all in one sitting and savor each chapter. The content isn't easy to tackle especially in time of apparent racial divide, however Ms. Morrison stepped into the gap with grace. She also calls her readers to also bridge that racial gap. This is not a book that I can read and put on the shelf to collect dust. The book called me to be an active participant through the discussion questions, prayers, and liturgy. It would be a great addition to any home, book discussion group, or church.
