Publisher Description

Jennifer Chance’s Rule Breakers series turns up the heat as a wealthy playboy and a beautiful con artist engage in a high-stakes game of seduction.

As dominating in business as he is in bed, Rand Sterling Winston IV always gets what he wants. And even before he realizes that she’s scammed him into paying triple the cost for her friend’s painting, he wants Dani Michaels. To catch her alone, Rand demands that she personally deliver his purchase. The attraction between them is immediate and electric, and he knows she feels it, too. So when the part-time petty thief rebuffs his advances, he gives her a choice: a night in jail or an evening with him.

Despite her checkered past, Dani has never met someone like Rand: brooding, intense, and oh so tempting. Only a man with a broken soul could make control feel this dangerous. Still, when Rand proposes a no-strings, no-holds-barred affair, Dani’s more than a little intrigued. It’ll be the trickiest con she’s ever run and a chance to indulge her steamiest fantasies—nothing more. But as their encounters grow increasingly intimate, Dani uncovers a vulnerable side to Rand’s steely exterior and opens her heart to the ultimate risk.

⭐ ⭐ ARC was Provided by Netgalley in Exchange for an Honest Review ⭐ ⭐

Judging a Book by it's Cover: Male model, torso bared and centered. Title font is plain, the coloration is not exciting. Blurb is moderately interesting.

Looking Deeper:
Third-person POV.
Rand is a blue-blood multi-millionaire who'd inherited the family company. Dani is a product of the system working odd jobs and the occasional con. They meet by chance and Rand is fascinated. He strikes up a proposition right when she needs cash most to help a loved one out of a serious financial bind.
This was an odd-story.... he pays her to be at his back & call for thirty days. They continually are playing some twisted version of Truth or Dare while having an immature one-upmanship "game". Though both had crappy childhoods, he ended up as an elite one-percenter while she lived payday to payday. I did not feel a genuine connection between the two characters beyond the physical & even that was a little awkward at times. There were minimal secondary characters, from the snobby siblings and his receptionist, to her best artsy friend, shady boss, and distanced foster brother. They provided decent filler without taking over the plot. Conversations were usually smooth and believable and the character interaction was okay. The plot fell a bit flat to me, it all about the game & who's winning every time they were together that nothing felt genuine and real. It made me second-guess anything they had together the entire time. To me, the biggest conflicts in the book were Nell's condition and William's outcome, both of which played significant roles in the book, but neither of which were ever updated in the end. I believe an Epilogue would have helped make the story's conclusion feel stronger and more satisfying.

Love is the biggest risk of all

Rand Sterling Winston, IV and Dani Michaels have what you call instant attraction. They meet at an art gallery where Dani is trying to sell her friends painting to a big fish. Rand, is the big fish.

In the end, they run into one another again, and again when Rand arranges it to be so. Dani is trying to stay away from him since they are from different worlds. She does not want to fall in love with someone who does not understand her.

Rand has issues all his own. Aside from family pressure, he has a company to run, past hurts to hide and basically gives Dani a running head start and still catches her. They actually have a lot in common, and get along well.

Dani makes a deal with Rand, to help her only family. She will spend 30 days with him and be at his command. Only will either of them want to let go when the month is up?

What if love is real? What if it can conquer past hurts? This book is a very emotional and fun roller coaster. Who else robs a house on a date? Book # 4 in the Rule Breakers Series.
