Bearing It All: A Highlander's Beloved Novel

With fireworks exploding as tempers flare and passions ignite, the chemistry sizzles with scorching heat from every page but there’s quite a bit of emotional turmoil that Ronan and Anisa will have to bear if this relationship has a chance at all. Strong captivating characters demand your attention right from the start and the fast paced, smooth flowing plot enthralls readers with suspense, excitement and romance as a bit of snarky attitude and a stubborn bear add quite a few chuckles. Anticipation builds throughout the story, as readers await the revealing of Ronan’s bear side and pulse pounding excitement keeps readers on the edge of their seat when the enemies comes knocking on Ronan’s door and the whole clan will have to work together in order to save Anisa. The scenes are well written with vivid details that make it easy for the reader to picture each and every scene while the intriguing events ensure that there is never a dull moment. There was no way that I could put this book down once I started reading it and I have to say that Magnus (Ronan’s bear) charmed his way right into my heart with Ronan and Anisa coming in a close second. I also really enjoyed the extra happy ending and Earnan’s brilliant romantic gesture to Effie as it added a little something extra to the story.

What a brilliant novel! Davis seamlessly combines highland romance with the wonders of being a shifter. Toss in a load of suspense and a dash of spice and you’ll barely be able to put it down. The plot starts out on a high note that carries throughout the entire novel as Davis develops her larger than life world. The intimate and intricate descriptions allowed me to enter the novel in a real way. The narrative was solid, always furthering the plot yet also allowing me to have fun with the novel. Not only were the characters well developed, but the dialogue was solid & realistic. The banter between the characters was fantastic, adding to the story and creating an interpersonal dynamic that you won’t forget. Davis has created a fun, funny highland romance that I thoroughly enjoyed. I love how she easily crossed genres, creating an intricate whole that kept me on my toes while also keeping the laughter rolling. A woman who's a Major in the French military involved in espionage, a highland Scottish community of shifters, a witch and a man who's a bear shifter whose bear is a handful! Excitement, laughter and a good read can't be far behind! Enjoyed this tale of Ansia, Ronan, Brother Bear and family/friends! Would give it 4 stars but it seemed a little drawn out. Look forward to the next book by Ms. Davis 3 1/2 stars Received book free for honest review thru Netgalley.
