This book captivated me from the start. It combines luscious food descriptions, and the history of the Allies WWll invasion of Italy all told from a Brit's perspective. I could not put it down. Both heartbreaking and humorous by turns, I made sure to read this author's previous novel The Food of Love which I found equally well written.
