About this ebook

“A harsh, visceral, novel of conspiracy and betrayal . . . a distrubing mix that plays on our sense of history while at the same time it appeals to our darkest fantasies of rough justice.”—Chicago Tribune

The inspiration for the USA Network series Shooter

He was one the best Marine snipers in Vietnam. Today, twenty years later, disgruntled hero of an unheroic war, all Bob Lee Swagger wants to be left alone and to leave the killing behind.

But with consummate psychological skill, a shadowy military organization seduces Bob into leaving his beloved Arkansas hills for one last mission for his country, unaware until too late that the game is rigged.

The assassination plot is executed to perfection—until Bob Lee Swagger, alleged lone gunman, comes out of the operation alive, the target of a nationwide manhunt, his only allies a woman he just met and a discredited FBI agent.

Now Bob Lee Swagger is on the run, using his lethal skills once more—but this time to track down the men who set him up and to break a dark conspiracy aimed at the very heart of America.

Tom Clancy remains one of my favorite authors and Point of Impact is another installment of the Netforce (Number 5) series. Previously I have listened to the audio book version of several of the Netforce books. Unfortunately, I listened to them out-of-order that Clancy had intended. Well, a few months ago, I sorted the books into the order intended and have been listening to them again. I'm about half way thru the series. Since the Netforce characters continue thru the whole series, it makes alot more sense when you listen to them in order!

Point of Impact follows Netforce's investigation of who is creating a new mega-drug. This drug gives the taker super-human strength for a brief period of time followed by a several day "crash". The only problem is that once created the large purple pills become inert in 48 hours after mixing the final components.

Interesting idea for the book. Well written as always and fun to read (listen to). Soon, I will tackle the next in the Netforce series. I can always recommend the Netforce series and this installment is a must read. I do recommend you follow the series though!
Perfectly fine thriller that didn't need to be so long. Appealing hero, wanton bloodshed, neat twist at the end so the legion of bad guys gets their just desserts.

This is the first that has ever got me hooked on a character. Its worth the read and just the twist and the turns and the pace is smooth and quick. It will grab your attention!!!! It is one book that will keep you turning the pages. The dialog is easy to follow and the plot line is simple. A must read for any suspense or action reader. The best one I have read in a long time. I have become a fan of Hunter's books. Point of Impact is one the greatest sniper novels I have ever read!!!
