About this audiobook

#1 NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • Long before the First Order, before the Empire, before even The Phantom Menace . . . Jedi lit the way for the galaxy in The High Republic

It is a golden age. Intrepid hyperspace scouts expand the reach of the Republic to the furthest stars, worlds flourish under the benevolent leadership of the Senate, and peace reigns, enforced by the wisdom and strength of the renowned order of Force users known as the Jedi. With the Jedi at the height of their power, the free citizens of the galaxy are confident in their ability to weather any storm But the even brightest light can cast a shadow, and some storms defy any preparation.

When a shocking catastrophe in hyperspace tears a ship to pieces, the flurry of shrapnel emerging from the disaster threatens an entire system. No sooner does the call for help go out than the Jedi race to the scene. The scope of the emergence, however, is enough to push even Jedi to their limit. As the sky breaks open and destruction rains down upon the peaceful alliance they helped to build, the Jedi must trust in the Force to see them through a day in which a single mistake could cost billions of lives.

Even as the Jedi battle valiantly against calamity, something truly deadly grows beyond the boundary of the Republic. The hyperspace disaster is far more sinister than the Jedi could ever suspect. A threat hides in the darkness, far from the light of the age, and harbors a secret that could strike fear into even a Jedi’s heart.

Not for Old School Star Wars Fans. Disney Star Wars, trying really hard to introduce new characters to the Star Wars universe. As an old school Star Wars fan, I'm just not feeling these new characters at all, and I'm struggling to find anything interesting about them. The audio quality of the audiobook was top-notch sound effects were perfect, and Marc Thompson continues to be amazing. My main issue is that I just couldn't connect with the characters in this series. I really want to try this series again, but I will take some time to figure out where they're going with this series.

I enjoyed it, and I recommend it! Light of the Jedi is a fascinating look at a brand new era in the Star Wars lore. It's so refreshing reading a story that's not forced to tie into the Skywalker Saga and can be something totally new. It does introduce a lot of characters and names, and while several characters get their time on stage, the story has an overall ensemble kind of feel. Despite really wanting to, I didn't get very attached to anyone as a result. There was so many people to meet and names to remember that I didn't feel like I got to know anybody super deeply. I honestly felt like I knew the antagonists better by the end of the book. I left off the 5th star because as refreshing and exciting as the story was, it's definitely a slow burn and the first part of a much bigger story. I don't know how well it stands on its own, and I keep thinking I wouldn't have been super satisfied if I'd read this back before the 2nd book was out. Still, it was a fun, engaging and surprising binge-read, and I'm looking forward to reading the next one!

Not available in the UK. Yeh, I'm leaving a 1 star review without actually knowing anything about the product, sue me. I want this audiobook, I've tried to illegally download it so many times but I can't find it anywhere. Now I actually go to legitimately buy the thing and it's not even available. For shame.
