Padawan Reath Silas is being sent from the cosmopolitan galactic capital of Coruscant to the undeveloped frontier--and he couldn't be less happy about it. He'd rather stay at the Jedi Temple, studying the archives. But when the ship he's traveling on is knocked out of hyperspace in a galactic-wide disaster, Reath finds himself at the center of the action. The Jedi and their traveling companions find refuge on what appears to be an abandoned space station. But then strange things start happening, leading the Jedi to investigate the truth behind the mysterious station, a truth that could end in tragedy...

New adventures for fans of the Star Wars franchise!

For a few years now, I've pondered at reading through all of the Star Wars books that are what is currently considered canon. (Raises an eyebrow at Disney) I finally put this reading plan in motion, with the help of my husband. He found Penguin Random House's list of the Star Wars Canon Audiobook Timeline, where all of the books are listed in chronological order (the ones they published anyway). It also notes where each of the movies fall in this list, so if you really want to have a cohesive experience, you can watch those in the appropriate places. (Which is what I intend to do)

In THE HIGH REPUBLIC: INTO THE DARK, Padawan Reath Silas wants nothing more than to spend his days studying the archives in the Jedi Temple of Coruscant. Problem is - his Master has decided he will accompany a few others to the frontier, or the Back End of Beyond as Reath calls it. A galactic wide disaster knocks the ship Reath and his companions are traveling on out of hyperspace and near to an abandoned space station. Maybe abandoned isn't the right word exactly....

First, I'd like to say as a long-time Star Wars fan, the audiobooks are definitely the way to go. Dan Bittner is an outstanding narrator and accompanying his genius is the different Star Wars music for different scenes, light saber sounds, other sounds you'd hear in context of being in space - it is an amazing production. It's honestly like listening to a movie. I've seen the movies so many times that I have no trouble "seeing" these scenes unfold in my mind as I listen.

THE HIGH REPUBLIC: INTO THE DARK is an all new Star Wars experience for me, which I loved. In addition to meeting new characters, I also came across two races I'd never heard of before, both of which I found intriguing. While I do believe this book is classified as Young Adult due to the ages of a few of our main POVs, I still found it very enjoyable. In addition to having multiple POVs, we also have multiple plotlines! Some get resolved by the end, some get resolved for the time being, but you just know we're going to see more in future books, which I was very excited for.

I'd also like to add that this book has been a lot of fun to talk about with my husband as we read it. With both of us being big fans of the franchise, having new characters and events to ponder over has been a joy. We're both looking forward to starting the next one very soon!

Great good game! Fan ,

Good

Not a fan of the narrator but the book is good

Chomac and Orla 🤍💙

Jedi Masters Orla and Chomac are the MVPs of this book. Their beef with the jedi order is what the star wars universe needs more of. Both have sick character designs. Orla is like and Ahsoka and Assaj Ventress fusion!
