The point of view in How To Kill Your Best Friend switches between Georgie and Bronwyn, who have been brought together for the memorial of their fellow best friend and college swim team mate Lissa (who drowned off the coast of a remote island where her second husband owned a luxury resort). They find themselves questioning the circumstances around Lissa's death and each other as, increasingly, nobody knows who they can trust. The front cover is an eye-catching one and matches the theme of the book. The story is also one that a lot of people can relate to, in that many of us have made friends we met at school/college/university so you can use your own experiences. The way the novel is written also keeps you guessing, both in terms of the shifting narrative that paints a picture of how each character is feeling and what they are doing as well as the 'method' descriptions which make you wonder how the murder is carried out and who is behind these potential methods? Look out for a twist or two towards the end for possible answers...
About the author
Lexie Elliott grew up in Scotland, at the foot of the Highlands. She graduated from Oxford University, where she obtained a doctorate in theoretical physics. A keen sportswoman, she works in fund management in London, where she lives with her husband and two sons. The rest of her time is spent writing, or thinking about writing, and juggling family life and sport.
