Checkmate

I had been waiting for a long time to finally read this book. I have loved the whole series, but this one was a let down for me. I guess I expected more since it is supposed to be the final chapter for Bowers. It had me turning pages, anxiously waiting to see what happened next, but I expected more from the ending. I felt cheated when it came to how everything went down with the killers. Seemed rushed & thrown together, expected more of a payoff after waiting so long...

I've read every book in this series and anticipated every single one. All of these books I would give a 4-5 star rating except the King (too much relationship making in such a small time frame) and this one. I was left at the end saying.... what the heck? SJ has the freedom to write what he wants and I appreciate a wonderful book series. The end of it all though was probably the least climactic ending of anything i've ever seen or read. I held my breath far to long to let it out like that!

This was one of the best series I've ever read! I pray that Mr. James doesn't let this wonderful cast of well crafted characters live out the rest of their fictional existence off the pages. Brilliant work. When will we get the movies to hold us over... ...?
