Publisher Description
“Clever, surprisingly fast-paced, and enlightening.” —Forbes
Most new products fail. So do most businesses. And most of us, if we are honest, have experienced a major setback in our personal or professional lives. So what determines who will bounce back and follow up with a home run? What separates those who keep treading water from those who harness the lessons from their mistakes?
One of our most popular business bloggers, Megan McArdle takes insights from emergency room doctors, kindergarten teachers, bankruptcy judges, and venture capitalists to teach us how to reinvent ourselves in the face of failure. The Up Side of Down is a book that just might change the way you lead your life.
Customer Reviews
If you've ever failed at anything, read this book!
Gladwell taught me not to rush my kids off to school early. And now Megan McArdle has taught me to help them learn from adversity. The Up Side of Down brings together compelling thinking with a storytelling style that makes the ideas relatable. This is one of those rare books that help you think about things differently both at home and at work. It leaves you remembering that skinned knees are not to be avoided but embraced as a badge of honor - proof that you dared to take a risk. If you've ever failed at anything, read this book!
Disappointed
The book started out great but after few pages it lost its point. The book talks about everything and covered a lot of subjects but cover less about its title. The author seems very smart and knowledgable about variety of issues but I didn't get what I expected which was the "up side of down".
