I know I've been treated to a good narration when the narrator doesn't take up space between me and characters. Handful and her mother are well developed, strong characters to inspire us.

I haven't listened to all of this but I like this author and the preview is immediately pulling me in.

She is also the author of several acclaimed memoirs, including the New York Times bestseller Traveling with Pomegranates, written with her daughter Ann Kidd Taylor. She lives in Florida.
