Summary
NOW A MAJOR MOTION PICTURE • From the #1 New York Times bestselling author of The Party Crasher and Love Your Life comes a novel with the same wicked humor, buoyant charm, and optimism as her beloved Shopaholic series.

“Sophie Kinsella keeps her finger on the cultural pulse, while leaving me giddy with laughter.”—Jojo Moyes, author of The Giver of Stars and The Last Letter from Your Lover

Meet Emma Corrigan, a young woman with a huge heart, an irrepressible spirit, and a few little secrets:

Secrets from her boyfriend: I’ve always thought Connor looks a bit like Ken. As in Barbie and Ken.

Secrets from her mother: I lost my virginity in the spare bedroom with Danny Nussbaum while Mum and Dad were downstairs watching Ben-Hur.

Secrets she wouldn’t share with anyone in the world: I have no idea what NATO stands for. Or even what it is.

Until she spills them all to a handsome stranger on a plane. At least, she thought he was a stranger. . . .

But come Monday morning, Emma’s office is abuzz about the arrival of Jack Harper, the company’s elusive CEO.  Suddenly Emma is face-to-face with the stranger from the plane, a man who knows every single humiliating detail about her. Things couldn’t possibly get worse. Or could they?

Praise for Can You Keep a Secret?

“Venturing beyond Saks and Barney’s, the bestselling author of Confessions of a Shopaholic and Shopaholic Ties the Knot entertains readers with backstabbing office shenanigans, competition, scandal, love and sex. . . . Kinsella’s down-to-earth protagonist is sure to have readers sympathizing and doubled over in laughter.”—Publishers Weekly

“If laughing out loud in public places is your bag, be sure to pick up [Can You Keep a Secret?]. Heroine Emma Corrigan is going to be your new best friend.”—Boston Herald

“Kinsella’s timing is so perfect, her instincts so spot-on, that it’s easy to . . . devour the book like the guilty pleasure it is.”—Miami Herald

“Chick lit at its lightest and breeziest . . . filled with fabulous clothes, stalwart friends, and snotty enemies waiting to be taken down a peg.”—Orlando Sentinel

“[Kinsella’s] dialogue is sharp, even her minor characters are well drawn, and her parody of the marketing world is very funny.”—Washington Post Book World

“[A] comedic frenzy of ill-fated events . . . punchy . . . fast-moving.”—Rocky Mountain News

The best narrator for me so far! I really enjoyed it

Light and funny read/listen. Took me a few chapters to get into, but once I did I needed to keep listening to find out what predicament Emma would get into next!

This was one of the worst books I've ever read, and by far the worst book I've ever listened to on audio. I read Sophie Kinsella's "I've got your number" and loved it so much that I wanted to try another of her books. Boy was I disappointed!! The narrator was horrid, and the story so basic and predictable and not compelling at all, it was hard to get through. The only reason I kept listening to it was because it is non refundable! Truly lackluster, ANNOYING book! I LOOOVE romantic comedy chick lit but this is dreadful.

Probably her best so far. 4.5 stars. I like the tension when she decides not to forgive him.

All of Sophie Kinsella's books are very entertaining. The narrator did a great job - I especially enjoyed when she spoke in the voices of the secondary characters. Highly recommended!

enjoyed listening - main character reminded me a lot of Bridget Jones?

Kinsella has a clever sense of humor! An uplifting humorous book. Is the book a great classic? No. Is it entertaining? Very.

This is one of the poorest books I ever listened to. I would not recommend it to anyone. The majority of it is written in the thoughts of Emma. The synopsis of this book says that it is a funny book. I found it just the opposite. I would find it hard to rent books by this author again. I would be cautious to do so.

I loved this book! Romantic comedy type of book. I hope they make it in to a movie someday.

After selecting a couple of "duds" to listen to, I was excited that I finally had such a fun story to listen to on my way to work. In fact, it was so good that I took the CDs out of my car and brought them inside when I got home so I could listen to them some more. I ended up finishing the book in less than two days! I highly recommend this to anyone who enjoys an uplifting, romantic story that doesn't always go as planned.

What a fun, light "read"! I'm falling in love with author Sophie Kinsella ~ she's turning my commute into a really enjoyable part of my day! A little predictable but crazy, lovable characters who make me want to get together right away with my girl friends. I'm about to look up and add to my list ALL of Ms. Kinsella's stories!

It was cute story that was very well read by the narrator.

This was fairly predictable but was an entertaining story to listen to on my commute. You can't help but like the leading characters and root for both of them. Kept me chuckling listening as Emma grew a backbone and got even with the office bullies and stood up to the antagonist in her family. Very entertaining.

Cute story of a Bridget Jones type of character. I found it to be a bit predictable, but enjoyed the characters anyway.

I actually really liked this book. Although it was a little slow to start and short, I thoroughly enjoyed the story line. I wanted to keep listening even when I had arrived at work and to tell you the truth, I brought the book inside the office and listened there too. It definitely kept my interest, but I tend to like trashy, mushy romance novels.

I agree with the other listeners; this book was a slow start but come disk 2 it was very enjoyable. Very short though. The outcome is proably what most expect, but still a good listen. If you need a pick me up, cheery love story, this ones for you.

The book started out slow and not very interesting, but hang with it, the ending is worth it. I'd recommend it, but her book, Undomestic Goddess is better. I didn't care for the monotone "american accent" the narrator was impersonating. It made his character sound flat.

This was actually a very funny story! Certainly kept me entertained during my long and sometimes boring commute! I would definitely recommend this as a light-hearted funny book to take your mind off of things. Enjoy!

This started out slow and I thought I'd made a mistake by choosing this book. It didn't take long to get into the author's humor and the book turned out to be a great read! I will look for more of her books from now on.

This off the wall, silly little book was lots of fun. I got a few explosive laughs every chapter and enjoyed every minute of my daily drive. This is "chick lit" at its finest.

A bit trite and predictable... but who cares? It's a great story and I didn't want to get out of my car until the story was done. I've never been so happy for gross rush-hour traffic, before!

I loved this one. It was funny and smart and kept my attention all the way through.

A hit! The premise of this book was so funny. Of course, it was a bit predictable but and due to the fact that it was abbridged that a lot must have been left out - it was still a very funny story.

I can't keep a secret....I have to blab to everyone that this book is laugh-out-loud hysterical! To say I loved it is an understatement. Even my BROTHER-IN-LAW laughed out loud when we listened to it on a road trip!

Can You Keep A Secret is absolutely hilarious. I was laughing to whole way to work and back. I looked forward to getting in my car and driving someone. Sophie Kinsella's characters are so likeable and believeable that you feel for them. It is a great book and I would recommend it to everyone!

What a delightful book! I loved the reader's accents and the story line was cute, funny and entertaining! Emma kept getting herself into situations where you would think there was no way out, but then a twist with a nice surprise!

Emma is a much better character than Becky from the Shopaholic book series. I wasn't nearly as annoyed with her though I wish someone with a more pleasing voice had read the book.

I'm not even sure why I rented this one, since I don't usually like books like this. But, I'm so glad I did - it was so laugh-out-loud funny that I listened to it twice before returning it. Emily Gray's narration was fantastic - she really made the characters live and her ability to shift back and forth between British and American accents was nothing short of amazing. The real comedy here comes from the story, though: basically, imagine casual acquaintances and colleagues knowing your most intimate and embarrassing secrets - where you cut corners, what your sex life is like, what size you are / want to be, etc. The premise of this book is what happens when people start finding out these secrets, and the funny situations that ensue. Very relatable.

This was a totally enjoyable, laugh-out-loud CD. Not a "deep nor profound book", but rather one that is light, fun, and easy to listen to. So many funny parts that makes "Emma" totally believable and by the end of the book, its easy to think of her as a friend. Emily Gray's narration is fantastic and makes the characters come alive. Really a Fun book!

I do not know how I got this one but it was fun and funny. The reader was superb and most of it was very funny. Some of it was contrived but overall a good listen. As a guy listening it was just too much dumb girl stuff, but I would recommend it.

This is a really cute story and you can't help but care about the characters. It also moves along at a good pace. When one CD is done, you can't wait to listen to the next one so you can find out what happened!

I thought this book was so funny! I laughed and cried. I even called a friend and told her to read it. You won't be disappointed.

For anyone who likes Chic Lit, this is a great listen. I read all of the Shophaholic Books (same author), and while I kept going back for more, I found them frustrating. However, this book has the same page turning quality, with a much more loveable heroine (eliminating the frustration). I couldn't stop listening (I found myself sitting in my parked car to hear just a little more, or making my husband endure it on a long drive). Highly recommended.

I loved the reader's British accent - it seemed to really lend more authenticity to the story. It is a typical Sophie Kinsella book - fun, light and entertaining.

This was an enjoyably funny account of a young woman, Emma Corrigan, who tells a "perfect" stranger all of her most personal secrets during a turbulent flight from Scotland to London. Much to our heroine's chagrin, the American passenger, Jack Harper, turns out to be the co-founder of the company for which she works! And then the hilarity really begins as Emma tries to deny her attraction to Jack. Well-worth the time it takes to listen to 9 CDs!
