Who says you can’t sizzle in the second half of life? At last, a solution! In Slim and Sexy Forever, Suzanne Somers outlines a program specifically designed to address the needs of women and men who want to lose weight and replace the lust for life that naturally wanes with age. In this “baby boomer’s recipe for the fountain of youth,” Suzanne shows you how to:

  • Melt away the unwanted pounds
  • Reinvigorate your sex drive
  • Capture youthful vitality
  • Devlop a more positive outlook on life
  • Sharpen memory
  • Eliminate hot flashes
  • Achieve optimum health from the inside out

In her runaway New York Times best seller The Sexy Years, Suzanne changed the way we look at our health and hormones, showing how replacing hormones lost in the aging process with natural bioidentical hormones can eliminate symptoms associated with aging.

Now, in Slim and Sexy Forever, Suzanne combines her cutting-edge information on natural hormone replacement with her successful weight loss program, Somersize, for a one-two punch that is the only proven solution to the problems associated with aging. Working with innovative doctors, Suzanne has created a program that alleviates symptoms such as mood swings, sleepless nights, hot flashes, and diminished sex drive that are so common as we get older. Simultaneously, her phenomenally successful Somersize program shows you how to beat a stalling metabolism and stay lean and trim while eating remarkably delicious food. With millions of people losing weight on the program, it is a proven formula for success. Suzanne makes clear in this fascinating new book that if your hormones are out of balance, you will not be able to lose weight. Weight loss must be approached with a twofold strategy as you get older: balance your hormones the bioidentical way and eat correctly. One doesn’t work without the other.

In Slim and Sexy Forever, you’ll also learn:

  • The truth about carbs: Depriving yourself of too many carbs will lead to hormonal imbalance and weight gain. Eat the right carbs to lose weight!
  • Plateau-busting tips: Suzanne explains why you hit plateaus and exactly how to push past them to achieve your goal weight.
  • The connection between adrenals and weight gain: If you blow out your adrenals trying to be Superwoman, you are going to gain weight and feel fatigued. Find out how to prevent that from happening.

got the hormones and here is what happened so far :)
I bought this book a few months ago and Suzanne made a lot of sense to me. Her diet looked a lot like the South Beach Diet--which my husband and I both love--and lose weight on whenever we can get up enough energy to cook. :)I have not tried any of her recipes yet and the only exercise I get is walking the dog every day--so can't tell if I would lose weight or not.I did go in to my regular doctor and he had the lab run all the blood tests for hormones on me and I was pretty low. Also had the Dexscan and I had lost bone in my hip. Although he did not know much about the natural extract hormones--we do have a compounding pharmacy in town--so he sent over the blood tests--and the pharmacist made up the hormones. The first month--the dose was all the same and too strong--but the second month--he cut back on the overall dose--and rotated the hormones to give me a cycle. Here has what has happened so far.My body temperature has stabilized and I feel normal temperature again. Before--I was cold all the time.My husband tells me that he sees more muscle tone--especially in my face.I had a small period for a few days--but no PMS or crampsI feel slightly younger and even bought a pair of high heels and have been wearing them.I don't seem to be having any negative side effects. About ten years ago when I went through menopause--I tried synthetic hormones for about six months--but went off of them because they made my skin and hair coarse and made me feel really odd.Suzanne's book explained very carefully how to go about getting the natural hormones, gave names and addresses of specialists, and told you how to get them if you had a supportive general doctor or compounding pharmacy in the area.I was not even aware that this was available before I read her book. Not many folks can afford to go to top of the line specialists and learn how to get and use these hormones--but obviously Suzanne Somers has the time and money--and she certainly has got good results. I think this book is a bargain and gives the rest of us that do not have this kind of access to good information a chance without having to spend the thousands of dollars to experiment. I'm thankful that she is sharing this information with us.Older women get very little real information of value when it comes to aging.I'm even inspired to try and exercise more and go back on the South Beach Diet--if I could lose ten pounds before Christmas--I could look really good for my children when they come home for the holidays. They are pleased when I make the effort. :)A Secret Life Of BanjoBanjo Dreamin' Suwannee NightsWalkin' That Banjo HomeVintage Banjo

THANK God FOR SUZANNE SOMER'S. ALL HER BOOKS ARE EXTREMELY HELPFUL; ESPECIALLY "Breakthrough" & "Knockout". I've actually healed myself & my 27 year old son. We've been through at least 50 doctors in the past 12 years that made us worse. The only one who helped us were naturepaths, especially Dr. Jonathan Wright. They can be very expensive so we kind of had to self/heal ourselves. Western medicine is nothing but pills, pills, & more pills. The only pills we ingest are HERBS & VITAMINS !! EVERYBODY AND I MEAN EVERYBODY NEEDS TO READ "Breakthrough"!!!!

I admire Suzanne Somers for trying to reach people about how hormones affect weight, but this book was complicated to apply to my everyday life. The Suzanne Somers biography and The Sexy Years were much better than this book. Now that Suzanne Somers has opened my eyes, I will continue to look for a book that can explain how hormones and food affect health and weight that is simpler to apply.

I like all of Suzanne Somers books. She has great recipes (although they tend to be expensive) and great advice. I lost a lot of weight on her eating plans. Customer beware of her tendency to preach bioidentical hormone therapy. No one knows the long-term use of these products and as a consumer I would not buy them. Instead I would buy Jillian Michaels' new book about metabolism and read how to balance the system naturally. Otherwise, Suzanne has a great book.

I was looking for different reasons why I have not been able to loose weight. Threw research I came across the hormonal connection. I have read other Somers books and decided to order this one since Suzanne has done a lot of research and talked to a lot of doctors on the subject. It is not an off the wall book that is just someone else s idea. To me it makes sense that if the body is not in balance it will not function properly. I am also into the natural hormone replacement and not the synthetic traditional medicine.
This book took longer than the other books to arrive but just barely made it by the dead line for delivery. It is in excellent shape.

I bought this book about a week ago and read most of it in one day. I am a middle-aged baby boomer, who gained 50 pounds thanks to menopause and long work hours at a high-stress job. I really related to the information in the book about stress and how hormones affect weight and quality of life. I have not tried the hormone replacement yet, but I have started Somerize eating plan. I LOVE it. I feel completely different, more energetic, less bloated. With this eating plan and my regular exercise, I have started to lose weight-- after a very long plateau. So far, this is working better for me than just counting calories and exercising.

This book has become a health life saver for me. Co-worker told me about thorough research Mrs. Somers completed. I truly believe I will now get my life back with better health. The hormonal imbalance can be resolved with the correct physician that specializes in hormone therapy with attaining personalized meds from compound pharmacy. I have hope again. Yeah!
