About this audiobook

A transformational journey through Italy, India, and Bali searching for pleasure and devotion—the massive bestseller from the author of The Signature of All Things

This beautifully written, heartfelt memoir touched a nerve among both readers and reviewers. Elizabeth Gilbert tells how she made the difficult choice to leave behind all the trappings of modern American success (marriage, house in the country, career) and find, instead, what she truly wanted from life. Setting out for a year to study three different aspects of her nature amid three different cultures, Gilbert explored the art of pleasure in Italy and the art of devotion in India, and then a balance between the two on the Indonesian island of Bali. By turns rapturous and rueful, this wise and funny author (whom Booklist calls “Anne Lamott’s hip, yoga- practicing, footloose younger sister”) is poised to garner yet more adoring fans.

This audiobook is, literally, a direct copy of the CD version. It includes skipping and stuttering found on a scratched CD, and indicates when each "disk" is finished. I wish the publisher would have put in care before offering this audiobook for sale. Although I enjoyed this the author's journey, the skipping audio was a really big distraction that disconnected me from the story. Because of this, I can't recommend buying this audiobook from Google Play.

I really love this book but... The book itself deserves five stars! It's a glorious tale of the search for self, authenticity and inner truth. It is a yarn about shedding the things that no longer work for you, regardless of how difficult it may be and jumping blindly into the new and unfamiliar with nothing but a hope, deep passion and a modest bank account. However, the entire audiobook is marred with skipping, as you can tell it was simply copied straight from cds and not listened to in its entirety by the powers that be. And I don't mean a little skipping here or there. The book is littered with it. I hope they fix the issue and replace this copy with a proper audio rendition worthy of this book.

I regret not reading the reviews of this audiobook. the book itself is good. the audio is terrible. there are NUMEROUS areas of skipping and abnormal "CD" recording sounds. i wish I could get my money back for it.
