Publisher Description
The Odyssey is literature's grandest evocation of every man's journey through life. In the myths and legends that are retold here, the energy and poetry of Homer's original is captured in a bold, contemporary idiom, giving us an edition of The Odyssey that is a joy to listen to, worth savoring treasuring for its sheer lyrical mastery. This audiobook is sure to delight both the classicist and the general reader, and to captivate a new generation of Homer's students.
Customer Reviews
Great reading but…
The reading is masterful, but the tracks don’t align, as others have said, and sections of the story are punctuated by perhaps the most painful, jarring music, like an angry nine-year-old with a broken 1987 keyboard. I dreaded it.
Should be easier to find books
The odyssey is split into books and this audio book is split into something around 200 tracks. It would be so nice and convenient if I could just select the book I want to listen to.
Perfect except...
The narration here is perfect. The singular problem is that the 24 books of “The Odyssey” are divided—with no logic—into about 160 tracks. Should you lose your place, you will be like Odysseus, lost on the wine dark sea.
