"A highly interesting tale of outlandish adventure of a sort to stir the pulses and arouse the wonder of even the 'jaded' novel reader." The New York Times Book Review
Review
"Conan Doyle's 1912 novel introduced his other great character, Professor Challenger. The original 'dinosaurs still living in a hidden jungle' tale, this timeless adventure has inspired everything from King Kong to Jurassic Park and is still the best of the lot. Great fun." Library Journal
Synopsis
In this first book in the Professor Challenger series, Challenger considered by critics to be one of the most finely drawn characters in science fiction and his party embark on an expedition to a remote Amazonian plateau where "the ordinary laws of nature are suspended."
Synopsis
Two scientists, a big game hunter, and a journalist travel to the Amazon rain forest. On a volcanic plateau, they discover an isolated world still inhabited by dinosaurs, climaxing in a chase scene with a Tyrannosaurus Rex.
