Loved the first book one of the best I have ever read. Loved how it built the world and how you get invested with the main characters. Was really excited for the rest of the series but the 2ND and 3rd book was totally underwhelming. It's like it tried to live up to the story twist of the first one and just made a mess of the whole thing. Such a let down to be honest.

Easily the best stories, stand alone and series, I have read in decades! You can't go wrong with the print it audio versions, the humor and intrigue communicate beautifully regardless of the medium. The only problem is you want more stories to read the second you finish one. I've gone through the series at least three times and the excitement, joy, heartbreak, and beauty are continually fresh. So glad to have taken a chance on a new author.

Life been a joy when I started reading the gentlemen bastards series. Loved the first and second book. The third was good, but not as great as the first two. Will look for the next book in the series.

Scott Lynch is the author of The Lies of Locke Lamora, Red Seas Under Red Skies, and The Republic of Thieves. He lives in Wisconsin and frequently visits Massachusetts, the home of his partner, SF/F writer Elizabeth Bear. He moonlights as a volunteer firefighter.
