In so many ways, Idoru is about identity formation and the re-creation of the self and built environments through nanotech and the Internet. At times, although it's over a decade old, the novel feels strikingly prescient. Certainly, one of the better stories Gibson has penned with a great cast of compelling characters.

If you enjoy cyberpunk and transhuman fiction then this work, which is part of the crome spine the genre is built on is for you. It is sadly a lesser kniwn but more referanced piece.

Gibson's works have been a big influence on me, in various forms of software development including my venture in to video game dev, amongst other things.
